Home Loans for Dog Lovers is a mortgage program created by Austin broker Eddie Gamez that ties home financing to dog rescue advocacy. Every loan Eddie closes supports Love-A-Bull, an Austin-based nonprofit dedicated to Pit Bull education, rescue, and responsible ownership.
It works exactly like any other home loan — conventional, FHA, VA, jumbo, down payment assistance, you name it. The difference is that your mortgage does double duty: it puts a roof over your family's head and helps put one over a dog's too.

Why Eddie Started Home Loans for Dog Lovers
I've always believed that if a community supports your business, you should support that community in return. Not because it makes for a good social media post, but because it's the right thing to do.
I learned that early in my career while working for the Arizona Diamondbacks. I saw how a successful organization could use its platform, resources and relationships to make a real difference. That stuck with me.
When I got into the mortgage business, I knew I wanted my work to mean more than closing loans. Home Loans for Dog Lovers is how I'm putting that belief into action.
Meet Banksy
Everyones Best Friend
In 2017, I adopted Banksy, a Pit Bull–American Bulldog mix, from Austin Pets Alive!
Like a lot of Pit Bull-type dogs, he had been passed over because people saw the breed before they saw the dog.
I thought I was doing him a favor by bringing him home. Turns out, that relationship went both ways.
Banksy has been part of my family ever since. Through adopting him, I gained a much greater appreciation for the rescues, foster families and volunteers who put in the work to give dogs like him another chance.
Since I already help people finance homes for a living, helping dogs find theirs felt like a pretty natural extension.

They Give Everything
Dogs act like you've been gone for a year when you only walked out to check the mail. They take up a scientifically impossible amount of the bed. And they stick with you through the good stretches and the bad ones without asking for much in return.
Not Every Dog Gets That Security
Some are surrendered because their families can't afford an unexpected vet bill. Others lose their homes because their owners can't find housing that accepts them. Pit Bull-type dogs face even more obstacles because of breed restrictions, bad reputations and overcrowded shelters.
Banksy Got a Second Chance
Banksy got another chance because people in Austin's rescue community put in the work. Home Loans for Dog Lovers is my way of helping them do that for more dogs.

The primary nonprofit supported through Home Loans for Dog Lovers is Love-A-Bull, an Austin-based rescue and advocacy organization focused on Pit Bull-type dogs.
They rescue at-risk dogs from across Texas, help provide medical care and foster support, and work to place dogs in homes where they can stay. They also assist families going through difficult circumstances so they can keep the dogs they already love instead of being forced to surrender them.
This one is personal for me. Banksy is a Pit Bull mix, and I've seen firsthand how loyal, loving and completely misjudged these dogs can be.
Love-A-Bull is working to change that—one dog and one home at a time. Home Loans for Dog Lovers helps support that work.
